Habitat opens ReStore home improvement site in Cheviot

Cincinnati Habitat for Humanity 


is opening a second ReStore in Cheviot.

No exact date has been set for the opening, but Marissa Woodly, development director for Cincinnati Habitat, said it will open this fall.

ReStore is a home improvement discount outlet that sells new and used donated building supplies, appliances, cabinets, lighting, furniture and more.

The new store will be located in the former 16,500-square-foot Cheviot IGA grocery store. Habitat signed a long-term lease for the space.

“Thanks to the generosity and support of many greater Cincinnati residents who have shopped and donated at the ReStore on Para Drive, we are excited to announce the expansion with a second store located on the western side of Cincinnati,” said Ed Lee, executive director of Cincinnati Habitat. “The new store is going to bring us one step closer to our ultimate goal of creating a self-sustaining revenue stream that will fully cover administrative expenses allowing 100 percent of all donated funds to be used solely for programs and services.”

The new location, at 3970 North Bend Road, will sit across from a Goodwill store. Research has shown ReStores perform better when they are located near thrift-like nonprofits such as Goodwill, Woodly said.

Cincinnati Habitat opened its first ReStore in Bond Hill last May.

Profit from the first ReStore was used to fund the construction of two homes, Woodly said.
